It's not wonderful Lorraine and shows there is quite a bit of inflammation in there. If I were you, I would have a chat with my GP about it. Don't be alarmed - some people have experienced ESR over 600!

ESR is the overall inflammation within the body, so if you had an infection it would also be raised.

It is high, yes, but not excessively so.

The RA is active and this is the indicator along with the more conclusive CRP levels..

Hi

if it is high for YOU that is the issue.
I know people who are on their knees with an esr at 30 and others still who are ticking along nicely with an esr of 90.

Certainly the "normal" range for esr is 1-20 anywhere near the 20 end then a normal GP would get twitchy! But you have RA and unless it is well controlled or you have the sort that doesnt show up in your bloods then 58 is quite lofty.

The other thing to bear in mind, is the WHOLE picture- if your joints are swollen and painful, a good rheumatologist looks at the WHOLE patient, bloods and person!

for me, at the moment- my esr has decided to stay pretty low (under 60) and my CRP has gone nuts!

love

Jenni x

Last time I saw my GP I asked what mine was.......30 something.........said that was OK. Would expect someone who had a cold would be higher..........

Very Confused
